Ministries

Adults

On Sunday mornings at 9:30 am we have education and discipleship classes for adults. We arrange these in four 13-week quarters throughout the year. Our classes range from Bible studies to parenting to financial stewardship.

On Sunday mornings at 10:45 am we have a dynamic, contemporary service, led by our worship team, and followed by a message from our pastor.

On Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm we have a short time of worship, followed by a smaller, more interactive time of teaching. This is where we really get a chance to dig into God’s Word and ask questions.

Infants & Toddlers

We have infant and toddler rooms that are staffed on Sunday mornings from 10:30 am until the end of the service, and on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm until the end of the service (8:30 pm).

Kids

On Sunday mornings at 9:30 am we have Sunday School for the kids that are ready for a classroom environment, from about 3 years old up to and including 5th grade. And then during the morning worship service, these kids will worship with their families and then they go back to the kids’ wing for what we call Kids Church.

On Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm we have something for every age. We have a nursery and toddler room that is staffed from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. For the kids up to and including kindergarten, their class starts right at 7:00 pm. The 1st graders through 5th graders start out by worshiping with the adults, and then go back to our kids’ wing for their class.

Teens

On Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm, CaRanda Thiessen leads the youth group for 6th graders through 12th graders. And at least once a month the youth have a special outing!

Bible Quiz

For kids in 3rd grade through 5th grade, we have a wonderful Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) ministry from September through February. These kids practice and learn God’s Word at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings and on Wednesdays nights at 6:00 pm. They compete against other Assemblies of God churches in the Pittsburgh area on four Saturdays during the season.

For kids in 6th through 12th grade, we have a Teen Bible Quiz (TBQ) ministry. These kids memorize entire books of the Bible each season. It’s amazing! The TBQers practice at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm, all at the church.

Men’s and Women’s Ministries

Our Joy for the Journey women’s group and our Journeymen men’s group meet on the last Wednesday of each month, in place of our regular Wednesday evening service. We begin at 7:00 pm with a time of corporate worship, and then separate for a time of teaching.

Cafe Christos

Cafe Christos meets at Journey every Friday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We worship, study church history, apologetics, and the Bible. “Iron sharpens iron.”
