Missions

We define “missions” as reaching out beyond our church walls to demonstrate the love of Jesus to Bridgeville, the south hills, the Pittsburgh area, and the entire world.

For our foreign missions, we take the approach of getting very involved with a few missionaries rather than barely involved with many. We have some missionaries that have gone out from Journey Church, and some that are still in our church and that are involved in foreign missions.


Lang Family

George and Ema Lang (Romanian Missions)

George and Ema left Journey and the U.S. to move to Iasi (pronounced “yosh”), Romania in 2004. Their mission is, through personal relationships, to make disciples of Jesus Christ who seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness above all things and live a holy, uncompromising life pleasing to Him. As a family, they have discipling relationships with a number of Romanian families and individuals in the city of Iasi and beyond, encouraging their growth in their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. John and Beth Carey (MERCY for Kyrgyzstan)

In 2002, John, Beth, and their four kids left us to move to Kyrgyzstan, where they started an education center in a small village to help the Kyrgyz people.  The Careys moved back to Pittsburgh in 2009 as their daughter started college. John re-opened the family auto upholstery business and they continue to raise money for and help direct the Kyrgyz education center from Pittsburgh.

David and Becky Servant (Heaven’s Family)

David and Becky founded Shepherd Serve in 2003 to focus on teaching and training indigenous pastors to minister to their own people. Since then, the ministry has grown and expanded its ministry scope to include caring for widows, orphans, and the poorest of the poor. The ministry is now called Heaven’s Family and is made up of three divisions: Shepherd Serve, I Was Hungry, and Orphan’s Tear. They have served over 40 nations so far.
